I come home from work and my channel cat is laying kind of on his side.
I reach in the tank and pet him... almost no reaction..
I just changed his water, and It hit me.. i was like omg... whats wrong with the water..
I start a siphon and try to get an emergency water change going, I have some good cycled water on hand for just such an emergency.
He starts gasping pretty violently, and I freak out...
then I notice... oh crap... the pleco is gone.
common pleco.. kind of spiney or armored or what ever... I look into flippy mouth as hes gasping... its already gone down. not lodged in there.
Hes calmed down for the moment, but hes still unresponsive and kind if laying funny....
is he going to pass this pleco? or is it going to be his undoing??????????:(:(:(:(:(:(

If it ate the Pleco, only time will tell at this point.

Cross your fingers, and turn out the lights, keep the stress as low as possible and hopefully he will pull through.

I would hate to see you lose flippy, I love flippy!

its the morning after, and i hope he has made it through the night. Hope the best for you.

Okay.. it's been a couple days.
Flippy seems to be fine now. Just as pissy as ever.
BUT.
He's not eating.
He'll bite, then just spit stuff out.
(he actually had a very small meal of king salmon the morning after it all happened, but thats been it)
....
I'm thinking it's normal, but I'm wondering if I should be concerned at all.

Probably just a hunger strike... plecos probably dont feel real good on their way through...

very glad to hear he's still with us though. :)

I would just try a wide range of food, making sure you remove it if he doesn't eat it. hopefully he will start eatting again soon. Try bloodworms/earthworms, shrimp, fish fillets, whatever you can think of is worth a try.
My tsn/rtc hybrid was doing that today, biting shrimp and spitting them out, I threw some sinking hikari cichlid pellets in there and he gobbled them up

It's probably being really cautious of what it eats now. Just feed it a variety. It'll start eating again, just give it more time.

I nearly had the same with one of my Pacmans. Its throat and "way down" must be hurt. Give itra week without food.
