Ok guys heres 1 i will never forget in a while, i was busy doing my weekly water changes last night and just admiring my fish whilst i done it, I was also finishing off the lid i had just made for my large tank, I dropped a screw so i looked down to notice that the jaguar cichlid fry had seriously dropped in numbers, as i started to investigate i looked at the external filter which is behind the tanks and to my disbelief the filter was full of baby jaguars WOW
Well you can imagine how fast i moved to help these little fellows, there was tools all over the floor amongst screws and nails nd **** lol i was like a headless chicken, anyway i got the tubes off the filter and got to work i netted a good few untill i noticed that there was more fry going through the media
well at this point i decided the only thing to do would be to take out the chambers and swish them around in the tank, so there was a few more saved.
By this time an hour or so had passed and still I had my head in this external filter lol Ok so i had been through all the stages disbelief, panick, remorse, relief then couldnt giv a toss anymore lol.
I decided to just let the little fellows stuck in the media GO i dont know how many got drained away but i still have atleast 150 to 200 fry swimming about and i now have a fluval4 plus in their tank and the external is running on my large tank which BTW has large fish in it so no worries of any being sucked up the tubes lol
I suppose the morral of this story is dont use an external filter with open tubes when theres 300 or so fry swimming about lol.
Lesson well and truly learned
now i can
again and watch these little monsters grow to be monsters
