I am freaking out right now.I came home and noticed him rubbing on rocks. Its almost like it didnt go back in the hole right when he closed his mouth.Pet store said add a bunch of salt and keep an eye on him..Any help on this would be great.
sideways tooth will fall out and new one will grow in place. happens from time to time. try to determine if the tooth was knocked sideways from impact or from catching prey. IF it's former the nose should show damage in which case try to avoid causing the reason for the behavior. they scare easy and ram into things.
rubbing on rocks is worrisome for payara. LFS was right, add salt, keep water clean.
Thanks.. I dont see any damage to his nose or anything. He always bangs off of something so thats probably how it happened.I knew they replaced there back teeth.I always thought the big fangs was permanent tho.
to my knowledge the only teeth shed and replaced are the fangs.
Also twitching and rubbing on decor is also a sign of parasites agitating the fish.(imagine having a bug crawlon you with no arms to knock it off. You would rub against anything as well)
Since these guys are wild caught they should be treated a few times for parasites anyway.
