At about 6-7" the fins start turning from black to blue. The blue is most intense from 9-10" up to about 17" when it starts to fade.

The blue color will actually not fade with proper care even at 20"+. Even the yellow color on the tip of the fins will remain yellow with proper care. Most that I've seen have turn to white tips, because of lacking of carotene.

Com'on black aro looks nothing like silver aro, except for the shape. If you look at them side by side, the color of the silver and black aro doesn't match. Black aros alos have larger eyes compare to silver aros.

Silver aro have greenish silver color, while black aro have steel silver color.

Do they all turn blue at a certain size??

The fins will turn blue, as well as the membrane of the barbels and it will also have some blue lines on the scale right next to the yellow lines.

You provide any pics to back up this statement? Yet to see a pic posted of an adult black with intense blue. The blacks loose the blue similar to the silver loosing the red/pink/orange.
