Ive never had a problem with my jag eating pellets but the previous owner only fed him pellets. If the jag is used to eating feeders, it probably hasnt developed a taste for pellets. The amount of chewing is probably more work than it is used to if you have been feeding it a good supply of minnows. Minnows (I have heard) are cleaner than gold fish, and not a bad feeder to use, but it is good to vary the diet. I would start by reducing the minnow feeding times, and keep introducing more pellets. Weening fish off of live diets can take a long time

You can feed pellets to your minnows. Their diet will help the fish that eats them. You can also try adding some other things to your jags diet like night crawlers. You can soak the pellets in garlic, too, to see if that gets his attention.
