I was doing some research and thought I get your thought's. What is a average growth rate for a black piranha? Any help will be appreciated.

you can probably get it up to 6in or so in the first year of its live with good water parameter and good feeding. after that it slows down, usually ppl will say 1 or so inch per year

This species has a notoriously slow growth rate bepends on the size of the tank and there diet but really slow
Right now he is in a 55gal and eating tilapia chumk's and occasional blood worm's.

You might also want to try feeding earthworms, cut in halves or quarters, frozen krill, and small chunks of fresh raw or frozen market shrimp. Like stated above, regular partial water changes, try to keep it's strees level low, and keep the ph. between 6.4 to 7.2 and try to make sure to retreive any uneat'in scrapps of food when it's done feeding, for better water quality. This may sound cruel, but put two or three not too aggresive dithers in with him/her, because fish fins are a large part of it's natural diet while in it's juvie stages, plus it will help in coaxing the fish to be less shy & reclusive. Hope that helps, GL. with your rhom. bro! when you can, put up a pic, I'de love to see the l'il monsterfish!!

Awsome info yeah I was planning on throwing like three cory cats inthere with him and maybe 5 or 6 neon tetras. But i'll try and get some picture's up real soon.

add a koralia 4 powerhead and some driftwood at one end of the tank, the rest leave open space so he can swim against the current, i would try to get him on pellets hikari sinking, if you cant get him to eat those then raw white fish flesh/rawshrimp/ whatever try to keep away from live foods unless you quarantine them well.
