On hour 2 of sump clean out

Ok so i started at 8pm. Just about 10 now. I told myself i could clean out my sump in two hours. Well.....im only half way done. 40gal sump, about a 5gal bucket of ceramic rings, two filter socks. Just washed out the sump. Filter socks are running under my bath tub facet so they will flow a little better. About to rinse the rings (in water from the tank). Have to fix my overflow box still. Damn! Im looking at another hour maybe more. First time ive cleaned it out. Who knew it would take this long.

how long has it been running?
Over cleaning will cost you BB.
 
Just finished. I left the overflow box alone for now. Ill jump on that tomorrow or something. The sump is flowing like a champ! I bought a little pump to suck all the air out of my U tubes on my overflow box. Im getting a great turn over rate now that their is no air bubbles trapped in the U tubes. The socks aren't over flowing at all. Worth the effort.

Yea i bet most people could clean their sumps in an hour easy. Mine is in a very cramped space under the stand. I also move slow when i do anything with the tank. My worst fear is being rough with the sump and breaking the glass. I would be screwed if that happened. I use a water change drip system that work through my sump. It changes close to 60 gal a day. I have a very heavy stocked tank. If my drip system is down for more than a few days im sure id lose fish.

Maybe in 6 months i will finish this faster. 4 hour sump clean done.
