I have a 6 inch male jag alone in a 125 gal new tank setup. Just wondering about over fedding him as he acts like and will eat everything in sight at anytime. I have been researching and everything i have read so far seems to suggest to only feed twice maybe three times a day. I have him eating a variety of things including pellets, flakes, bloodworms, and crikets when i can make it to the pet store.I hear nightcrawlers is also a nice treat they like. I just dont want to overfeed and wanting some insight on this. Also i am thinking about adding a pleco to the tank in a couple of months after algae starts up, wanting any suggestions on that too. Thanks for any input.

he will eat it all, all the time. so does that mean i can feed him until he wont eat it all?

Well, it isn't necessary to keep feeding until he can't eat anymore. The healthiest thing would be to feed smaller meals 3-4 times a day.

Thanks angler, what do you think about adding pleco? And if he is going to attack it will it be right away or is it just up in the air?

I also was wondering about heaters, I have a used 150 watt and a new 250 watt spread out in tank about 3 foot in center and trying to get it evened out so that both heaters work out to maintain around 78 to 80 temp the 250 kicks on way more than the 150. Any suggestions

Adding a Pleco shouldn't be a problem, especially in a tank as big as a 125. The Jag will likely leave it alone. You don't have to wait a few months for algae growth to add a Pleco if you don't want to. Algae will grow way before that with sufficient light. Also, just drop in algae wafers at night.
