? on sores on common pleco

Is it possible for pleco to get burned on a 150 watt jager heater as he likes to hang out on it? Out of the blue I have noticed on his bottom lip it appears to be red and raw looking also on his belly is a spot about 1 inch elongated and my first thoughts were he possibly got burned.

I can try to get some pics if you need to see what they look like.Also what can i do about the sores?

Yes they can, I believe I heard there are heater guards out there

What kind of substrate do you have in your tank?
I used to have coarse gravel and my plecos would get sores on their bellies and lips as well. I changed over to coarse sand and havent looked back!!

Yes I have coarse gravel. Is that really common for plecos to rub their bellies and lips raw?
