When putting large pieces of wood into an aquarium is it ok to lean it against the glass or acrylic?

if we were talking about a tree no, but i think any good sized peice of wood would be fine leaning against the glass.

Because i was always told a large weight should not be on a single point, does count for the sides too. i have a large piece of wood which doesnt sit right unless you prop up from behind. if i dont lean it against the glass i could get a pvc pipe to do the job and create a cave.

how large is the aquarium??, and aproximatly how much does the wood weigh?, and how think is your glass?.

the aquarium is going to be 48x15x15 and the wood is prob no more than 5lbs its 28x13x9. if i bought an acrylic tank would that be safer

i think a 5lb piece of wood in a 48x15x15 would be fine, i'm not sure whats stronger, you might wanna ask dr. joe that question, note that glass will scratch easier, so the wood may scratch the back of the tank, but that shouldn't be a problem unless you plan to turn the tank around.

It's harder to see a scratch on acrylic:)
