So, just wondering what condition do people here keep the rocks in there aquarium? Do you clean them or let the algae grow?
My personal opinion is to let the algae grow, my cichlids love it! So how about you?

I normally change the scape quite frequent, so i don't have that much algae on the rocks to begin with ..

Just a quick vacuum on them. I don't rearrange all that often. I have some big guys that get a little pissy for the next week if you move there shacks. When they dig I hate to clean out the filters from the aragonite they kick up. No algae in the main display tank yet as I run a UV sterilizer (3 years now). Its close to a bay window and I hate green blooms. I'm sooo glad I put that plastic crate material on the bottom. Or they would be rearranging them on there own.

i try to keep as much clean as i can. i actually have an algae problem with it growing on my live plants and i hate it. im trying to get it to stop by cleaning everything as best as i can.

If you have a problem with algae on your plants try replacing your lamps. With more lighting your plants will out compete the algae for nutrients in the water and the algae will go away.

While this may be true, it is much more likely that something is out of balance. Check phosphates, nitrates, ph and kh. There is a direct relationship between light, ph and co2. If you are using tap or well water, I would chech those parameters as well.

As for algae on the rocks, I don't seem to have much of a problem. I change 50% weekly. Since I switched back to tap from RO/DI, I have noticed that more than two weeks without a change and some BBA starts showing up.

I do not clean anything but the gravel and filters. I don't clean the glass, rocks, wood.

I let it grow, I only clean it of the glass and equipment.
