i want to buy those rubber swimming pools and use it as a fish tank, an suggestions? i see ones 18 feet across for cheap.. i got a big yard..

Looking at the weather in LA I see that ytoday's high is 66*F and tonights low is 44*F...

With this small of a body of water in comparison to natural lakes or large ponds... as well as having above ground uninsulated sidewalls... the water temperature would be in the mid to upper 50*s.

Keep this major limitation in mind when considering what you could stock it with...

Heating it will cost a fortune unless you build a greenhouse over it... then it will only cost a small fortune...

I've been using a small "doughnut" pool this winter to temporarily house my koi and goldfish while the pond is rebuilt. I haven't had any problems, I do have a 1500 watt heater to keep the surface open. We have had some cold weather (15 was the low last night) but I haven't seen any ill affects. I plan to use it for some rainbows this summer after the pond is finished.

That's awsome. I am thinking of stocking my 120 gallon spring catch pond with a couple rainbows this spring after trout season opens. I have had zero luck keeping any fish alive due to the extreme current from the spring feed. (The spring has never run dry even durring our drouts). On an average flow I can fill a 5 gallon bucket from the 4" pipe lead from the spring in well under 60 seconds!

Koi, Channel Catfish, Comets, Shubunkins, Minnows and bluegills all get washed out during storms. It is however a Crayfish heaven. They say Trout love cold water and strong current. I think 2 rainbows are gonna love it!
