Well I came home from uni this weekend and found that my 46gal empty. I'm not upset about the lose since it was just my guppy breeding tank which has been dwindling in numbers for the last four months. I say again because I moved my tank a year ago across town and the water was just different enough to lose my ten fish.....:(

Anyways....

Now I'm trying to figure out what to do with my tanks since I can only really perform maintenance on it about once a month so I need a fish that is very low maintenance but will also be nice to look at when I'm done university in may. My sister will feed the fish in between my visits but that's about it. Any suggestions??

Currently it's got fluorite for substrate with a couple of plants which i might remove to my other tank.

Oh, I've also considered just leaving it empty until may but still running it as if there were fish in it. Just so it's ready for any fish I might pick up. Thanks again

hey, i'd go with a couple of senegal bichirs. they're hardy, not very expensive and low maintenance. your sister could drop a few shrimp pellets into the tank in between your feedings. that would make it easier on her and lower the risk of her overfeeding as is the case with flake food.

HA, that's too funny. I had one that I lost in the move and as this tank was emptying I was thinking to myself....two sens would fit. Lol

Sadly they aren't cheap in my city. 40$ for a 5cm sen

I might drive an hour and a half to find a good deal though

Thanks for backing up my ideas

that or some dwarf channa heavily planted..

tempting....tempting

there are many who change water every 3-4 months with channa since they aren't very fond of it.. just feed lightly, plant and filter heavily..

well I'm already over filtering this tank by a lot, I've got an Aquaclear 50 and 70 running on it so with the addition of lots more plants it should be more than enough
It's just a case of finding the channa now.
If that's the route I decide to go that is.
