So according to some one, all the water in your pond/aquarium should run through the filter once every 2 hours, he said if you do this your pond will be amazingly clean. Is this true?

My pond is 2,900 gallons and the pump runs at 2000 gallons per hour. While the filter has a capacity of 2650 gallons, which means the water will run through the filter slower than the filter was designed to, this causes the water to be even further cleaned by the filter.

Most people on this site like their filters to cycle all the water 4-9 times per hour, depending on the stocking level of their tank.

for large ponds most shoot for 1-2 times an hour.

And the reason for this is because in a pond you don't care if stuff settles on the bottom. All you really want is a good bio filter and clean/clear water.

1-2 times an hour turn over rate will do this with normal stocking rates.

Now with aquariums-- Most people I speak to do not like to see any debris on the floor of the tank. So we use alot higher turn over rate to help clean the tank as well. I myself like between 10-15x turn over rates on tanks larger than 100g. Because larger tanks are harder to clean so i make the filter do most of the work. And I just change water and clean media.

Smaller tanks for me 6+ works fine.

Agreed, anything from once every 2 hours to 2x/hour for ponds. I think I'm at 7x/hr on my big tank between my sump and fx5, and I'm considering adding another small canister.

HS, I never knew that? Thats A LOT! Isn't that going to make the electricity bill really expensive? Any ways, what if my pond is 7920 gallons and my pump runs at 2,380 while my filter runs at 15,000 liters 3960? Will that still keep the pond clean?
