This is one of the golden barb females i have that just started getting rounder and rounder. I think she's horribly constipated and i am pretty sure it isn't dropsy. As you can see her sister fish is normal sized they where the same size a while back though. Is she a goner?

heres a sticky on treating it if you havnt read ithttp://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45617&highlight=fish+constipation

i dont thinks its working, its in fish disease and heath

You can dose Epsom salt...it looks bloated...

try and feed it peas and put a single grain of epsom salt in a pea that should clean her out...

Thanks guys i guess i try that. I have tried peas but not with epsom salt.

I would just dissolve the Epsom salt, to make sure it comes in contact with the fish in question. If they spit the pea out or part of it it will not be effective...If you dissolve it the fish can not avoid it...Good luck whatever you do. PS Bush that is a great idea that I would have never thought of :) I bet with bigger fish this would be the way to go ...

Your golden barb is egg bound but in most cases the fish will re-absorb the eggs back over time when they cant get expelled. Cut right back on feeding, especially any high protein food and wait. I dont think the epson salt bath will help but as long as it is not stresing her too much it wont hurt.
