I think I have one of my payaras weaned of feeders. He is early eating krill and hikari pellots of the surface of the water. Unfortunely, his buddy is still not showing interest in the perpared foods yet. Today hit the one week starving marker. I think I can make it till Thursday before I break down and buy him some feeders. I hope the weaned one kind of shows him what to do. I will let you guys know.

hrmm ur fish seem to be unwilling to eat. it only took 3 days for all 4 of my dats to eat shrimp. maybe takes diff times for diff fishes.

I know thats what everyone has been telling me. That why I was excited to share the news that I got one weaned.

tong - big difference between a dat and a payara. Almost everyone has dats eating frozen stuff, yet some payaras will only take live.

Congrats, Charney... that's good to hear! :) Hopefully your other payara learns to take dry foods, from watching the one that's taking now... That's what happened with me! :headbang2 GL!

i just started a thread on this not to long ago. how big are your fish?

Mine are both about six inches. The one that is eating krill and pellets will gorge himself. His stomach still has not gone down from early yesterday. The other one is not showing much interest in the krill. He does no look to great and his poop doesn't look right for obvious reasons. I think I will keep on trying him for two more days. I am afraid to stretch him to the full two weeks. If I go back to feeders I am going to try the garlic method mentioned in a reply to my Weaning Part II post. I am hoping if I do not feed either one of them today they will both go for it tomorrow. We shall see.
