raised up a few bass in a 50, transferred them the other day to a 120. Lost one to what i believe was a combo of ick and stress from the move. Regardless, I have Bausman in there right now and my Ph was always around 7.2ish, but recently its climbed up to 8.2. But my bass seem happier? Comfortably cruising, nice colors, eating well. No signs of anything particular. I obviously dont want it to go higher, but would it be bad to keep it a little higher then recommended if the boys are happy? Did the bausman jack it up?

Temp stays between 78-81. and I have two good size pieces of driftwood. I also shut the bubble strips off a few days ago. PH seems like it came down and bass still look happy n healthy.

how big r the bass? if u had ich its probably ur temp. up temp to 86 and hook airstones back up. u like oxygen right?

X2 - temp up to 86 and turn back on the air - Your PH should be dropping with two big ole pieces of driftwood in there...??

I had the temp in the mid 80's in a smaller tank, where the ick developed. They are 4-5 inch bass in a 120. And i have plenty of oxygen exchange through my filters and power head. The bubbles from the airstones release A LOT MORE carbon, RAISING my PH. More carbon = more Acid= lower PH. I asked if it was going to be dangerous to have a high PH as I would rather stabilize and gradually reduce. Not if my my water was oxygenated enough. The two questions were, is high ph is they are happy that bad, and does Bausman raise PH. . . Thanks anyways.

What is bausman?

I told you what you NEED to do. Airstones= more oxygen in the water column. The high temps is too ward off ich. YOur 4-5in bass are too small for 78-81. YOu NEED your temp at 86-87 or will have stunted bass that are unhealthy and will be able to get ich very easy. The envioment you have your bass in is not stable. HOw bout you listen rather than ask more ?'s

The ph isnt too much of a concern as long as its stable.

Ask more questions? I repeated the two I asked in the first place. BUT I will up the temperature and Bausman was at the pet shop. Said it was a medicated aquarium salt on the back, front said "tonic" . could use for well being of fish in small doses, or treatment for ick and other stuff in higher doses. Was a bluish salt like substance. One bass had started getting cloud eye, and it cleared him up in a day. Ick is gone as well and PH has come down a little.
