OK so I woke up this morning to find one of my EBJD's acting different. I could see his fin was a lil beat up then he turned to swim and only had one eye. It is crazy I dont know if he is going to make it are not. I just added a Firemouth and a Sen Bichir to the tank dont know which one did it. Any clues I need to get one if not both out of the tank asap. Help

How big are the EBJD's the Sen and the FM? I saw your last post about adding somthing to the tank and you were worned somthing could happen but you added anyway.

The EBJD that was attack is at 2in and the FM is about 2. THe SEN is about 3in. I dont know which could have did it maybe I just need to take both out.

I think you should take both of them out just to be safe

I think I will. The funny thing is that the more and more I look at this fish I am starting to think that the eye might have just come out on it's on. I dont see any signs of biting around it's eye. Maybe I am wrong but that is what it is looking like.

if there are now signs of damage I'm willing to bet the FM did it. The sen would have left bite damage, the FM could have just puckered up and sucked it out.

You added two new fish to the tank and immediately the Blue Dempseys eye came up missing... and you think it "just fell out"?...

That's just silly...

Eyes are common targets during an attack as fish realize that a blind enemy is an easy enemy to defeat... They teach people the same thing in self defense classes...

Your right I left and came back and the fins had been bitten a lil more. So I took both out. I hope I can save the one it seems to be doing alright. I won't be adding anything else to that tank.

I can almost guarantee you it was the bichir. For some reason eyes are a common target. I have had my ornate take out the eye of a Jardini, as well as a friend of mines taking out the eye of one of his Uaru. I have yet to see one of my cichlids take each others eyes out.
