A good number of members here comm a lot of monster fishes in single tanks - be it same or mixed species.

Fights will break out and in some cases, resulting in lost of one or both eyes for the victim.

From my own experience and what I noticed in LFS tanks (as well as speaking to some of the owners); two species will typically go for the eyes when they fight: ATFs and gars.

Hope fellow keepers here can share their experience as well: so that there is something for us to take precaution while mixing predatory fishes together.

Torn fins and missing scales are acceptable risks to most of us. But having them blind will be painful.

My experience with cichlids are limited.

Peacock Bass: eats fishes perhaps 1/3 of their length. Lots of flaring and charging but seldom inflicts damage.

Oscar: The same but won't really eating fishes that are too big.

Damba: charging but again, doesn't really really cause serious wounds.

Hoplias: Takes chunks outta the victim. Mostly from the lower body area.

I didn't see anything you typed EYE-oriented.....??

Nope.

Eye oriented are those I mentioned in the first post: gars and ATFs.

Fair enough.

Let's stick to one eye jacks and the tank mates that dished it out. :)
