I have 2 green spotted puffers in a 38 gallon tank. They are still very small, I would say maybe an inch. I had 4 at one point. All but one survived, the rest died from ich. I got them from my friends co worker, and she got them from walmart. I just read a few entries in this forum from other ppl who said to never buy fish from walmart lol.
Anyway, I took them because she did not want them. So 3 of them died. The one surviving puffer, kept swimming up and down the tank, would hide every time I came to say hi or feed him. I bought more plants and decor for the tank to make it more appealing to him. I had read several articles about how they need lots of decor or else they get bored.
No matter what I did, he just seemed bored and upset. Everything in the tank was fine, meaning the temp, water, ph, and all that good stuff.
Then about a week ago, another friend of mine got a green spotted puffer, only to realize they are brackish. She did not want a brackish fish, so I took that puffer. So now I have 2.
My first puffer who seemed to be lonely, bored, and upset, perked up when I put the new puffer in the tank. He comes out now and has stopped swimming up and down the side of the tank. My problem now is, the new puffer is kinda mean to him. I don't know for a fact if the new puffer is a girl or not but I named her Bonnie. And the first puffer is Clyde...lol so yeah Bonnie and Clyde.
Could it be that I have a friendly puffer? Who actually likes other fish? Or is this just a whole juvi phase that he is going through and later will be just as mean as Bonnie? any help is appreciated, thank you!

Oh and also, how do you do water changes with a fish that wants to bite your hand? (Bonnie likes to go after my hand when i stick in there :jaw-dropp )

If he isn't actually biting him, or his fins, I wouldn't worry too much. It is probably just a dominance issue.

Thanks! any ideas on how to change water for aggressive fish who wanna bite your hand? lol

wear cloths or dit water changer :)..lol good luck :)

The title of this thread made me think of Miss Congenality. Longer python/siphon tube, and aqua tongs! You will never have to stick you hand in ever again.
