last time i had a silver arowana it was single about size of 5-6 inch it was kept in aquarium of size 3'1'1.5' the shopkeeper told me that i should give him live guppy /freeze dried bloodworms to eat but the arowana refused to eat and after two days died :( Water Conditions: 75-82° F, pH 6.0-7.0, KH 1-8
till now i do not know the reason why it died but seeing the little one swiming was something that i want to experience again

I DO WANT TO BUY SIL ARO BUT WANT THAT IT WOULD LIVE FOR SEVERAL YEAR ALSO IT WOULD LIVE IN MY 6' TANK ALONE

WHAT TO DO NOW

or it did't eat at al in the shop , there's noway that a fish dies becous its hasen't been fed for 2 day's

how big was it ?

my opion get a bigger one not to big between 15-30cm and then it be stebel eneaugh(organs and stuf are ready to eat and so ) and forget about guppy's that's crap , its bad for your aro .

Get yourself some hikari flouting chidlid stiks ( everything flouting and its has to stay aflout ) some gammarus red , agaian color and it's good for the fish , and get your some good aro stiks . give this to the fish seretly , i mean feed it 3 times but 3 times different food .

and starf it for a day or 2 and if it still won't eat by them wait just wait don't trow extra food in .
next day feed a litle bit just a litle , if he eats okey , if not wait .
and change your food he might prefer some food and if he start's to eat you can get him to learn different food types.

greets if you have any ?
jsut ask
btw if you want to see my aro check my pictures

Why do you water params fluctuate so much?
This is bad for the fish, a pH swing of 10 and temperature swing of 7 degrees:confused:
Need to have stable water parameters before buying any other fish.

If the 6' tank is your 6x2x2' then a silver can live in that for 3 to 4 years. Eventually you will need to get that 12' x 4' x 5' tank though.

smaller silvers are delicate and have to be well taken care of
get an aro that is atleast 8" or so they are much more hardy

your tanks to small hikari has aro sticks that produce good color and growth.

the first week or so ive had some problems having my arrowanas adapt to feeding. it can be tough depending on what they were fed at the store. i had good luck with really small feeder guppies and small ghost shrimps. ive also herd pellet food works. if the fish can make it a week or so he should be used to the tank and a little stronger but like i said, when they;re smaller the fisrt few days is tough. good luck

One thing I cannot stand is when I see the guy at the LFS feeding dead feeders to the fish. I have lost fish due to bad feeders. One thing I'd ask before you buy is to see them eat and then make your decision on which one.

i have to agree, this is your safest bet. there are so many tips on how to ensure survival of a newly purchased fish, most of the time they take a while before they start feeding. safest thing is to observe the aro for a couple of days in the lfs, ask the proprietor what it feeds on and watch the fish being fed at least once. and get a bigger tank!:D
