1 of 2 large dominant males we have on display. We have a total of ~50. They sure are cooler than the Rio Grande Silvery Minnows we have. Don't mind the algae on the glass.

That is one helluva fish. Just curious, what kind of water are you keeping the pupfish in? Also, don't dis the RG Silvery Minnows... At least you can still find them in New Mexico.

Awesome little pupfish (was also going to ask the same as RJMTX as to water)

The fish are at about 4-6ppt salinity, though I had a 'spike' of around 8 ppt last weekend when I did water quality checks. pH was reading at 7.6+, but I lack a high-range pH reader. Our tank is simply setup per what the NMSU Fisheries and Wildlife Science Dept (provider of our fish) instructed me for setup. I wouldn't mind doing a more elaborate setup at a later date.

The fish pictured is, as stated, 1 of 2 large males that's about 2-2.5 inches, roughly.

As for obtaining any, I'm not sure on private collections, but I do know they are state-listed threatened here in NM. They only come from 4 lake/stream systems on White Sands Missile Range and Holloman AFB. To the best of my knowledge they aren'y available to the private hobbyist.

This is about the only other info I have on them...

Did they recommend any particular salt mixture (NaCl / epsom ratio)? Or any particular buffering substrate? Sorry for all the questions but I used to keep a number of Cyprinodon so they generally interest me. Other than reading a bit in the literature on C. tularosa I've not seen captive accounts of them. Pretty cool opportunity you have here to work with these.

Most pupfish are threatened if not endangered so it is very unlikely that you will be able to get some.

Red river (Cyprinodon rubrofluviatilis) and Sheephead (C. variegatus) are widely available. They are not suited very well to a planted tank though due to habitat requirements.
