One of my American Cichlids tanks

How long do you keep them in that tank between spawns? It is pretty dirty with all the uneaten food and poop on the bottom. In this particular video the tank is way overstocked. That's why I asked how long do they live in there together. Maybe you don't normally have so many in there. But as it is now, it's not so good for them. They look big and healthy otherwise.

The condition of the fish speaks for itself.
It is next to impossible to keep such tank sparkless, especially since the bottom is bare and the dirt is not hidden in the gravel (as is the case in most aqauriums).
Particles in the water do not provide much indication with respect to water chemistry. The water in this tank is changed constantly...the JD's are the 3rd generation born in my aquariums and they are pretty young (around 1 year old) you can see them as fry with the parents here:

I rotate between the Blue-Gene Dempsies in order to get high-quality EBJD's.
My pairs are kept in 220 liters tanks. My EBJD male and his female live in a 500 liters aquarium practically all by themselves....as I stated before, look at the fish and judge by their condition.

In general I would say that tank looked way overcrowded, but the fish do look really good. They are active and didn't look beat up at all.

I am not going to flame on the guy. His fish look great, even if the living conditions are slightly questionable.

I'm not flaming you. I actually complimented you on how well they look. I just didn't know how long they lived in that tank together in between breeding because it does look overcrowded and dirty on the bottom. They could live this way for weeks or for months, I don't know. I've seen a lot of bare-bottom tanks. I know how easily every speck of dirt, food, or feces shows up. Again, your fish look healthy and colorful.
