I maintain a number of CA cichlid species of the genus Paraneetroplus. You've seen several of them on this forum ('maculicauda', 'breidohri', 'melanurum', the list goes on). One of them has, above all others eluded me in terms of raising a pair to maturity and having them breed successfully. That is the 'regani', a fish of delicate coloration and patterning unlike most ('argentea' is another) others in this genus which usually have bold splashes of color. About 5 years ago, I obtained some young 'regani' from aFISHionados in Winnipeg and spent 3 years raising them up, only to lose them (aquarist error :nono:) Well, after another try, finally I have a pair. Here's a video highlighting the new couple.

Nice, congrats! Are the bredhori spawning too? The female looks like she was boasting spawning colors.

Yes, the 'breidohri' have spawned several times in this tank. Here's a pic.

Regani & breidhori spawning in the same tank...two of the slowest growing paraneetroplus out there! It takes patience & committment to get them to that size. Really nice work!

Nice pair of Regani there, fingers crossed they spawn for you.
Thank you. They may have some difficulty in that tank. It's just too "busy".

I agree.Incredibly slow growing. Thanks for your comments.

I will echo those sentiments on both species. My 9.5 inch male Breidohri has taken over 2 years to reach that size, but he's a beast with a large nuchal hump. Just wish he would stay out of trouble.

My fav Vieja of all. Congrats..That's a great accomplishment considering their slow growth and the conspecific aggression they display. Wish you the best.
