One of my Geo Altifrons with thread....

Hello everyone,

I've have noticed this for a while but did not post anything until now. The alpha male in my 6 pack of Geo. Altifrons has 3 streamers coming out of his top caudal fin. All my other mature Geo's including the red heads (both male and female) only exhibit a single streamer.

Maybe it is a genetic anomaly? It is very interesting. I will post pictures later today.

Has anyone else encountered this before?

Three is perfectly normal, they're not as spread as heckelii though, heh.

Wow, what sizes are/were your G. Altifrons in those pictures Japes and peathenster?

Close to 12"/30cm in mine - I no longer own it, photo was from new owners tank.

Your fish appear to be a G. abalios variant (lateral spot is too large for altifrons)

I agree, which explains the extra trailers.
