I have a pair of hybrid motoros that are around 3 years old. One of them has developed some wart looking things on its back. Does anyone know what these could be? Are they life threatening? Here is a picture

If there is a next time he'll cover up.

me neither

If its the small raised areas on the rear of the lighter coloured ray don't worry they are normal, lots of motoro have them.
Are you sure they are 3 years old? They look small for that age

Yup, thats them. Im glad to hear its not something life threatining or anything like that. I was also wondering about their size. It seems they havent grown a whole in the last cpl of years. Im wondering if its a feeding thing or if its just because what they are xrossed with that keeps them small. My guess would be their diet, i hate to admit it, but i dont think they get fed as much as they should. Usually i only feed them everyother day, but they eat a dozen nite crawlers at a time. When nite crawlers are outof season we feed them shrimp and even beefheart.

I have them in a 125 gallon along with a 8" microlepsis datnoid, im thinking baout gettting rid of the dat and playing them some nice romantic music so maybe ill get lucky and they will spawn.

what are the demensions of the tank?and the rays? that tank is probally to small for them to grow to their full size. 12 night crawelers every other day hmm i dont know if that is enough or not one of or experts can help on that one. you can feed them shrimp and beefheart all the time not just when nightcrawlers are out of season. goodluck

They are currently in a 125 with a sand bottom, i have been considering building some sort of pond for them but that really needs to wait till i buy my own house which will be in the fall. They are currently residing in my moms basement and she has been doing the feeding. It kind of sucks cause the only time i get to see them is when im doing water changes. I really wish i could move them here with me but the house i rent os so freakin small and i already have 4 smaller tanks setup here. When i do buy a house i will be building a pond and hopefully getting more rays. Until then i need just need to keep them healthy and happy.
