We all get them once in a while. Sucks worse when working on the tanks. So I got home from work this morning and usually take a nap and then start on water changes. Today I was feeling pretty good so I thought I'd do the 180 and then nap for a bit. Everything goes well and am refilling and 2/3 done and doze off. Daughter finally gets me awake enough to understand somethings amiss. Overfilled the tank by quite a lot and ruined(or slightly damaged I don't know will see tomorrow) my air pump. So yay strike one.
I'm awake now so let's continue right? So my daughter helps me with maintenance when the mood strikes her and I get her started on the 125. I have to go get a new air pump at the lfs so run her through what needs to be done after I do the sand siphon portion. I run off and get the new pump + (because who leaves the lfs w/o something more than they came for) and my daughter calls me crying. 'Oh Noes!' Something is very wrong at home with the refilling. Inhabitants of the 125 are or were mainly just remainders of previous communities like a few mixed rainbows, some tetras, an atabapo pleco that no on near me wants all in the tank with my chocolate that gets along with everything as long as it's not a cichlid. She accidentally ran it about 10* above normal and about 8 fish didn't make it. (We'll see in the morning if there are anymore casualties but though stressed they were still moving around) i have the heaters set at 75 downstairs to conserve a little bit of energy and water evap, she had filled it at 84-5. Not a huge loss, I was just letting them live out their lives anyway but unfortunate.
Move onto her 75 and it's scheduled for HOB cleaning this week and take the ac110 apart and clean it and then can't get it to start back up. At this point I've about had it so I switched it out for the spare and finished that one.
Last one is the 40b quarantine tank which houses my andinocara "Choco" from Rapps. He's been eating well and in the last few days has really been outgoing. Alls I can think of is what's next. I had already planned on moving him anyway so off he went and the newcomer was floating happily in his bag. Do the water change and extra thorough cleaning of it for the new guy and am refilling it. The wife calls and ask me to check on something right quick and while I'm distracted I overfilled another one.
