Only one out of six ciclids in my tank appears to be sick. It's a small Jack Dempsey. At first I thought he scraped himself on some of the rocks, but I don't think he's getting better. He has marks on him that look like the bottom left fish here (but lower on his body where that one is on his upper body):

Thing is, it's worse on one side, and he's eating, but no longer hanging with his tankmates.
I don't want to sound callous, but I'd rather lose one new JD than my whole group. I do not have a segregation tank, and honestly...for a $2 fish won't do it. Should I end his suffering, or is there something I can do without endangering the rest of my fish?
Or, is it possible he hurt himself and it will heal? How long would it take for me to see healing? It's been about a week now and no sign of getting better.
