I am finally one step closer to getting a 90 gallon african tank setup.
I have finally got the time to put an ad on CL and got the 55 gallon out of the garage for $60. I will hopefully be able to get the tank in a week.
Still have to build tank's stand but, that is easy. I have a couple question
1. What would be the best filter for a low budget(perfer canister or powerfilter) and my bioload of 6-7 bichirs with a couple spotted leaffish and some dithers? 2. How many watts total should I heat the tank with. 3. Stocking question want to stay mainly with bichirs most if not all of the current are going to be moving into this tank?

I think i seen a used Rena Filstar XP3 in the MFK classified ads for $60. Thats a great deal and would work fine with your tank. as your fish get bigger get used another XP3. A 300w heater would be fine also

two ac110 would be good for the tank, but an XP3 and ac110 would be a good choice too. as for fish, look into african butterfly fish..

What species of bichirs are we talking here? Big difference between Endli's and Senegals :)
