hi everyone, i have just been told that the shop i run may be shutting down so i could be out of a job very soon. :irked:

If this was to happen i was looking to attend sparsholt college which do courses on fish husbandry and anatomy, fish management, sports fisheries and aquaculture that sort of thing.

unfortunately the missus brought me back to reality and reminded me of the mortgage we have to pay every month.

does anybody know of any online courses which deal with the same sort of subjects and if so are they any good, is the piece of paper you get at the end worth the money and time.

Any input is appreciated

I cannot speak on acquiring a degree online, but...

If you attend a college and work with people hands on the fields that you speak of you will likely be able to obtain a job a lot easier. At least over here in the US, jobs that require degrees in Fish Husbandry etc... are few and far between, so unless you are out there working face to face you are not as likely to get hired. If I had to do the online course way I would volunteer time at a place that could employ me later, who you know seems to go a real long way in Professional fields that have a small niche.

i would love to get into a job here in the uk and i live just minutes away from the cefas labs so that would be a good place to start. Eventually i am looking to move abroad and maybe set something of my own up so that is the real reason behind the courses.
i have looked at farming and export business but there is much more to look at yet.

thanks for the input
