I have never bought fish online. Now that I am looking for less common fish it seems this may b my only option. Can anyone recommend some reputable online fish dealers? I am in the Mid- Atlantic/ North East region. Thanks for any recommendations.

I've had success with tangled up in cichlids, Ichiban tropicals, imperial tropicals and north Florida aqua. Others to consider are aquascape, rare fish and wetspot tropicals because they all have great reviews around here. It would be easier to give a proper recommendation if I knew what in particular you are looking for.

I am looking for cichlids (not African), red head Tapajos or anything that is out of the norm for a lfs.
Bluegrass aquatics has a nice selection and I've always been impressed by them.

Shop around locally, and see if your LFS can order what your after. We have a great, small LFS here. Red head Tapajos in stock here just teasing me!... but what he doesn't have, he's glad to order... and high quality fish, too.
