I just found out that one of the plants I put in my aquarium is a corkscrew Val. It has done well, looks green healthy, sent runners...I love it.

Today, after adding a dose of "flourish excel" in hopes of slowing down the hair/stag algae that has cropped up, I read that it is really bad for Vals! As soon as I read that (30 min or so, after adding the excel) I did a 1/3rd water change. Did I just kill my Vals? I added 1 cap full of excel, and my tank is 29 gal.

I have not heard that about vals, just crypts. If they are affected, they should come back in time. If not, they are not too expensive to replace. lesson learned :D

Seriously doubt you killed them. I imagine you won't notice much of a difference, tbh.

Lol Dxdx, I have 3-4 bronze crypts, mine lay almost flat, didn't know you could hurt those things
;).

yea, I melted my crypts with excel, but some pieces survived and grew back they were pretty hardy even with the abuse. I don't recall my val being affected by the excel though.
