OK, here is what I did: I moved a female convict from my 30G to my 90G; in order to get to her, I had to pull out a large piece of driftwood . . . AFTER I moved her, I noticed the driftwood had eggs on it (must be hers and the male EBJD that was in the tank)

so, I put the driftwood into a 5G temporary tank, with the same water as in the original 30G tank; added aeration and a small filter to keep the water circulating

any advice? a few eggs are white, but most are a healthy looking brown

yea cons could cross with jd but also females lay eggs without males

Sometimes females lay eggs and protect them without a mate. When they are full they must empty themselves. The eggs dont hatch. I have no clue if convicts can mate with demseys, but I dont think that much will come of it. And you need to remove the white eggs, or the mold will spread. I hope for the best.

He said most of them are brown , so if she laid eggs without a mate why would the be brown?

thanks guys . . . I'm not putting any hopes into this or anything, just curious to see what might come about

I have no doubt the JDs and convicts can cross, but I don't really know much about this particular EBJD and his abilities . . .

I'll update if anything of note happens . . .

well, one way or another, looks they all turned white . . . no biggie
