Well I got my food order from Kensfish.com today. I wanted to try a vitaman supplement so I added Seachem's Nourish (for freshwater fish) to the order. When I opened the box I saw what came was Seachem's Vitality (for marine fish).

I was hoping it was seller's error, but no, looking at receipt email, I somehow managed to click Vitality instead of Nourish when adding to the cart...



Next time I'll wait till I'm sober to order supplies

Doesn't seem a problem to me with FW except it will increase your hardness levels. I guess it was not a complete waste.

Vitality™ can be used on freshwater ornamental fish; however, it is specifically designed for marine fish.

Ingredients: Water, spirulina (Spirulina platensis), chlorella (Chlorella pyrenoidosa), phosphoric acid, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, ascorbic acid, ferrous sulfate heptahydrate, zinc sulfate heptahydrate, copper sulfate pentahydrate, manganese sulfate, potassium iodide.

Ohhh thanks, I didn't know it was ok to use with FW fish.

How much will it increase water hardness? I don't see anything on the link you gave about it affecting water conditions.

My water is naturally hard (at least I think it is, a few months ago when I had the 5-in-1 dip tests (before getting API liquid tests) I was getting test results of the highest levels for gh / kh I think. But those same strips said my pH was over 8.0, but its really about 7.6.

As far as I know my fish (plecos, silver dollars, EBJDs) are supposed to do best in soft water, but they seem to have acclimated well enough to be doing fine. But I probably shouldn't be doing anything to increase hardness if I can help it...

The addition of calcium chloride can increase the KH but as it is not really on top of the ingredient list, it is unlikely to adjust the KH by a significant gap, perhaps by a small difference only. Considering your water is already hard, your fish should be fine. And those other ingredients can be found in most human multivitamins that some of us even use in our gel recipes for fish.

ken is an extremely nice guy. have you tried telling him you had a bit too much to drink, and purchased the wrong vitamin by accident, and want to swap them??

if you havent opened them yet, i dont see any reason why he wouldent do it, if your paying for the shipping or whatever again

I haven't opened it yet.

I thought about that but I'd have to pay to ship it back to him, and for him to ship it back to me. I think it'd be easier just to pick up a bottle from a LFS.

I think I might just keep it, but only use sparingly...
