Opaline Gourami vs Polleni

Hate to see this but my blue opaline gourami is chasing my newly added polleni all the time and nipping in tail. Not too sure why this is happening given polleni is little bit larger than gourami. I think its time for gourami to go to another home.

Any ideas please

Any time you add a new fish to a tank where another territorial fish has established itself, the new fish is often seen as a threat by the established resident. Gouramis can be territorial, and even though the polleni is larger, it can be at a disadvantage if it doesn't fit into the perceived established hierarchy.

Sometimes rearranging the decor serves to change the dynamic, and boundaries.
If the polleni realizes its strength, the gouramis days may be limited, but that's a toss up.
I've had aggressive combtails (Belontia signata) that would easily kill much larger cichlids.

Try removing the gourami for a week or two and let the hierarchy "adjust" to the polleni. Then try adding the gourami, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
