You could go 'no hood' and make a 6 inch (or taller) canopy top for the tank to hold your lighting and you would still have the direct lighting and it would help with evap and keep jumping fish in. If the lighting would create too much heat you could open the top of the canopy up, it would evap more again but the fish would really have to jump to get over the sides of the canopy.
 
I would go for a flat glass top.
This will prevent your expensive fish from jumping out and will not impede the light much.
You also have to consider evaporation which will cause swings in salinity unless you have an auto top off.
