Alright, so this is something new for me. I've had this one particular female pearl gourami for about 7 or 8 months now, and ever since I got her there was a little scratch in her side. I figured it would heal over time and for the longest time it simply did nothing, so I figured it was a scar. Well, over the past few days I have noticed that the open area has been getting larger and it now appears as if the wound is infected or that the scales around it are rotting away. The poor girl still swims and acts fine, but I need some suggestions on what I should do to help.
On hand, I have eurthromyicin (spelling fail but should be close enough I guess) and some melafix, along with some aquarium salt. I'm able to try and get anything else that might be recommended for me to have.

I'll try adding more salt, I already add salt into my tank anyways. And due to it being summer my temp is at 82, I kinda don't want to set it any higher than that only because I also have live plants and they are already giving me a hard time about the temperature being so warm XD

Remove the plants, add more salt plus melafix treatments for 7 days followed by a 25% water change, then 1 more serving of salt and presto.. The wound should be sufficiently healed, don't forget to remove the activated carbon in your filter when adding melafix, if you can remove it that is.. Don't up your heat anymore than it is

Yah, its a planted tank, so taking out the plants isn't an option. Too many plants plus root systems that probably comprise most of the substrate make that an impossibility.
