My rainbow shark developed this wound a few days ago and it's now turned into an open wound. I just noticed that he's developing another one in the middle of his body. Anyone know what's happening and what I should do?20180729_234605.jpg

Water parameters? Tankmates? Any decor?

I forgot to mention them, sorry.
Ammonia 0, nitrates 0, nitrites 0. Tested them a few hours ago

Tank mates are as follows
2x angelfish, mated pair
2 pearl gouramis
3 african butterfly fish
1 african leaf fish
1 emperor pleco
1 brustle nose pleco
2 emerald cory
8-12? Mystery snails

The tank is a 55 gallon, been running for well over a year. Possibly going on 2 years, I'm not quite sure since I don't really keep track of time that well. There hasn't been anything wrong since that random disease outbreak that killed all of my cories and scaleless fish from an unquarantined batch of 8 corys. You can find that thread a little bit back. I'll post a link to it

Would atleast for now get ur tank cycled. Add some more filtration with a canister and media. Not sure about ur filtration status. U use any carbon?

Would get some methylene blue and dab the area with a qtip soaked with it.

My tank is cycled, I can assure you of that. I also have a canister filter which is a cascade 1,000. I never really learned what carbon was used for so no I do not use carbon. Methylene blue eh? I'll pick some up when I go to town today.

If you can't find methylene blue, then you can use Seachem Paraguard. You would have to dose the entire tank daily for 1 week and see if there are any signs of healing.

Seachem paraguard? Got it. Dosing it daily for a week should be easy enough considering I gave a kitten 3 different medicines 3 times a day for 3 weeks.

Do not dose within 1 hour of adding water conditioner, since the water conditioner is a reducing agent can render the medication harmless. So wait at least 1 hour after adding water conditioner to the tank to dose with Seachem Paraguard.

Ok thank you for that information. Do you think that I should do a waterchange daily for those 7 days as well to help the fish heal?
