Hello everyone,
I was thinking about adding some underwater LED lights for my fish tank. My gravel color is redish. I wanted some opinion on which color LED lights would bring out the BEST out of the gravel and my bichirs(or just the bichirs, as long as it would go with the gravel).
Options are:
yellow (looks orangish)
red
blue
white
Let me know.
THANK YOU
Adnan

To be honest, I never was a fan of underwater lights. I kind of think it looks tacky. I have blue LEDs on top of my tank and I can see them, but it's still pretty dark. I feel like I'm looking more at a silhouette than the actual fish. I think all the colored LEDs will do the same. White will probably give you more of a dim lighting affect so you would probably see more of the fish. If you have red substrate, I would avoid the blue as I think it wouldn't give the affect you desire. All the other colors would probably work fine.

So I just want to bring the color of my polys out. hmmm my tank light has white and blue bulbs, so which other color do you recommend? THANKS!

I like the way power glo look personally. It bring out the reds in everything even in the browns. Gives them more of of the predator feel if you ask me.:D

The greatest way display the natural beauty of anything, is to place it in natural light. Colored light is not a true representation.

I like benzjamin13 also have blue led lights on top of my tank. I personally like them as they are setup on a timer and only come on at night to simulate moonlight. Personally I think that underwater led's will take the focus away from the bichirs and more to the lights themselves because naturally your eyes will focus on the lights first when looking at the tank. I would go with led lights on top but not as the primary source of light. As for color I would go with blue or red.
