Opinion on temporary tank

I'm replacing my 125 with a brand new 125 this weekend. In the few hours that I'm doing the switch, I need to keep my fish somewhere. I have 28 African cichlids in there that are 2" give or take 1/2". The only other tank I have is a 10 gallon quarantine tank. I'd like opinions on whether or not putting them all in that tank for a few hours is a bad idea.

10 gallons sounds way too small. If you can't get some bigger bin I'd probably just throw them in the bathtub. Give it a good rinse and make sure the plug is in...

You can use a 55 gallon garbage bin also.

Get some 5 gallon buckets or large plastic storage containers and put the fish in there.

Two 27 gallon totes run air stones use tank water and dose with prime.

Will get you thru no problem.

Pet stores keep fish like that for days at least, a few hours in a ten gallon with an airstone sounds fine to me.
