I am setting up a 55 planted tank. I want to put some rams among other things in it. A local fish store has some very nice adult blue rams. His price: $20 is that a reasonable price just asking.

Rams, neons, cories would look great together in a 55 gal planted.

$20 for one adult ram is, in my opinion, too expensive. I've never paid more than $8 per fish, and they were very nice, healthy adults. Keep in mind that they only live a couple years...

i think i probably bought my ram for a couple bucks, but it was a juvenile at the time, i think (i've had him for years, so i don't totally remember how big he was when i got him or if he's even grown at all...)

$20 each for a ram is expensive. However, it is a LFS, you have to factor in the convenience into the price. Try to bargain with them, if you can get 2 @ $20, then that would be a fair price (I once had a ram, cost me $8).

Agreed. $20 is wwaaaayyyyyy to much, unless they are adults, then $20 is to much.

Was it an electric blue ram? Or just the basic blue ram?

This new color morph the EB ram is around $20 for one. But your normal Blue ram that's too high IMO.

FYI Keyholes go great with rams.
