Well I have had an interesting question that ive thought about for a long time but never seen anyone else ask...Ok, so flowerhorns...lately ive been interested in flowerhorns (i wasnt always because im not a big fan of hybrid fish) but one thing i consistantly see is that many people who own them try to do everything in their power to make the huge nuchal hump (a.k.a "Kok") grow as huge and massive as possible. Quite honestly ive seen some flowerhorns that just make me cringe to see. Some of them ive seen have koks that are so large the fishes ability to swim correctly has been all messed up. To everyone who loves flowehorns do not take this as an attack on these fish because it isnt at all. I've been quite interested in FEMALE flowerhorns lately because they have very cool colors and patterns to choose from but they dont get MASSIVE nuchal humps. I'm aware that the nuchal humps are found in many wild species such as Midas cichlid which are an all time favorite of mine, but many flowerhorns ive seen have koks that go far beyond what would be considered natural...I'm just curious, does anyone like flowerhorns without the large koks? And is there any way to have a male flowerhorn and have it not develop a large hump?
