Currently, there is only 1 Oscar in the 75. I've wanted to put something in there for some time but I'm too worried about them getting eaten. He/she is currently about 7-8" long(about 10 months old). I bought a columbian shark because I've seen other people keeping them and Os together but I'm not sure he's big enough. The shark is about 3.5-4" long. Should I wait longer?

And I'm open to other suggestions as well. I've heard that Os like to uproot plants but so far, they have been left alone. Just a couple in there now but plan on adding more. Won't hurt to try. So what I'm trying to say is, I'm not real interested in getting a fish that will definitely destroy vegetation.

Thanks for any help. :headbang2

Spotted or Striped Rafael Catfish would be good. It will clean up after your Oscar, hide most of the time so not to be messed with, and won't outgrow the 75g.

And ditto on what was said above - Columbian Sharks need brackish tanks.

my pictus cats add a bit of a show during feeding time but the oscar leaves them alone.

Seeing as how the 75 is the space needed for one oscar not really sure you shoudl add much at all to the tank

Yes I'm aware of the shark needing go marine as it ages(from what I've seen, the 2 year mark). I'm hoping to have a saltwater tank in place by then but if not, I guess we'll let him go to someone.

I like rafaels. And the pictus cats are nice too. How big should they be before I put them in there?

Never really seen an oscar care about a pictus or rapheal cat so size should not matter too much. Pictus stay on the smaller side anyway and are fast enough to get away from a nosey oscar
