hey all,
I am ready to start building my plywood tank and i have been debating on two different ideas for the last few weeks. So i figured i would post here to see what you guys think.

I am going to spare you guys all the details for now, im just looking for a good direction to go.

option 1
10' long 6' high and 30" wide.
this tank will hold more water then my other tank idea but it is rather narrow.

option 2
10' long 30" high 4' wide.
this tank will have ALOT more bottom space and will sit on a stand.

The key to both these ideas is the 30" width or heigth. I rent where i live and this tank is going to have to come with me some day, so it was to fit out the door. Some day i would love to build a huge tank in the basement but that will have to wait untill i buy a house.

The reason i am not sure what tank to go with is mostly becuase of the fish that will be calling this tank home. I am a big fan of catfish and other bottom dwellers that will require their own territory.

here is a list of what will be calling this tank home

1. south american lung fish - about 30" now but can reach 4'
2. red tail catfish - about 4" now but we all know these guys are monsters
3. silver arrowana - about 4" now but can get around 4'
4. peacock bass
5. one oscar - 14"
6. one gar - about a foot now
7. clown knife fish - about 10" now
8. dragon fish - 5" now and i think they get around 30-36"
9. rafael cat
10. I will be getting another TSN since i just lost mine and he was one of my favorite fish.

( and no these fish are obviously not all in one tank now)

im sure before most of these fish reach their full length i will have a bigger and better tank built. But i have to plan on this tank being their home for a long time because i have no idea when i will be able to build a larger one.

I am open to ideas but i really don't want this thread to turn into a debate about how to build tanks, glass vs acrylic, types of fish to put in it, etc.

thanks everyone!
Josh

i would say def go with option 2, the larger footprint will be better for ur stock than the height will. a lot of what u listed are bottom dwellers anyway so don't need the height, and the large footprint will insure that they are not all sitting on top of each other once they do get some size to them.

+1 option 2 as well

I am going to be the odd man out I am going with option 1.
