When I built my acrylic tank, I had planned on doing discus but halfway through the build my wife convinced me to go saltwater. The dimensions of the current tank aren't as friendly to a saltwater setup so I'm planning on a new build. Acrylic gets crazy expensive once you go past 10' so I'm going to go the plywood route this time. I'm thinking of doing a large flat back hex, around 300 gallons. I've never had a flat back hex and nobody local has one, any thoughts on that style of tank or that type of build? Obviously the angles present the biggest challenge.

While I have no good feedback as far as the build would go, I own a 55 gallon acrylic flatback hex, and will say that the shape looks real good in my opinion. Wide Flat back hex's are uncommon, I've never seen one larger than mine, you might be the first. I would think the extra angles would make it a good bit more difficult to build yourself.
