Since I really haven't seen any other tiretracks other then some pics I thought I'd get some opinions on mine. I just love him he very rarely hides, swims all over most of the time...he even eats mid level as the food sinks rather then waiting for it to hit bottom. Also attached a full pic of my tank.
I learned the hard way that these things need heater gaurds. Both mine have scars from being burnt....the USED to have nice markings. maybe something you're prepared for.......if not, you are now.
Where do you find heater guards? I have 2 rena smart heaters so they are a little different in their shape. Funny you say that though cause I had a little zig zag eel that I recently lost and that is exactly what came to mind the way he looked. He looked like he was burned on his belly. I thought it was because that heater malfunctioned and was not shutting off.
I don't have any gaurds still....... I just have the heater up towards the top of the tank. they were hiding behind it when they got burnt.
Anything will work...be creative. If I was to build one right now I think i'de go with a swiss cheesed chunk of pvc. Holes smaller than the eels (by far) and drill em all over....add caps and you're done. Will probobly do that tonight now that I think about it......before the same happens to the rays that now inhabit the tank with the eels.
My tiretrack has a big nasty scratch on its body due to the lava rock i had put on the tank (now removed), I'd like to know if the big scratch will be permanent or will his skin recover from it? I really don't care about the markings, just want him to recover.
