What's ur opinions I think it's going ok so far it's not like the stuff they we're making up last year and it seems they are trying to actually get the word out tht sharks are not monster killers that they are sought out to be and let's be honest there is prob sharks and rays swimming around us all the time when we go to the beach. One time I was in wildwood nj when what seemed to be black tip skipped out of water 5 feet in front of me and I was not scared but rather trying to find it again lol

This has nothing to do with shark week but it was on discovery channel so I thought I'd ask, does anyone remember the show about sperm whales and their life journeys? Like going to Antarctica and eating giant squid and they made up a story for the one whale based on the scars on it. That was awesome for some reason but I've never seen it again lol.

Much better this time around. Last year was so bad I almost swore off the program altogether.

I loved the programming for the first few years, but now it seems they are more into sensationalizing than just reporting/documenting actual reseaches.

While putting away laundry last night, I was watching the "show" on mako sharks. They made such a big deal about the makos ability to breach on an attack. Let me see: if a ginormous creature like the hump-back whale can breach, why is it so earth-shattering for a significantly smaller creature that can hit water speed of over 40mph to do the same?

every episode I've seen so far i didn't enjoy. they were just tagging a shark and watching if slaughter seals. there was no research in it or anything, geez I could have done it. last year was just bad let's not go there. I feel that if they just went back to the old shark weeks where it was just facts and good footage on these beautiful creatures it would be more enjoyable. instead they are paying millions to view another shark eat a seal top water

Maybe it's because they're smaller fish? Great whites have the muscle mass to breach, and do so to catch seals. Until I saw the program, I was under the impression that they were the only sharks to breach and catch prey.
I liked the one about tagging the megamouth shark, and the actual educational ones.

I get that Discovery needs to make a profit out of this in order to continue to air it...but enough with the great whites already. Are they amazing? Yes. Do they need to be protected? Yes. Do people really need to see Air Jaws CCCLXXXVIII next year? No. A bit more focus on the lesser known sharks would be great. Actually...why don't they do a documentary on the keeping of sharks in private and public aquaria?

sharks are not suitable for most private or public aquariums and displaying the act would encourage people to keep them in unsuitable conditions. I feel the show would receive very bad reviews, just look at any YouTube video on a shark aquarium, most of them have a 50% dislike or close to that

I'm under the impression that you don't quite understand water speed. 40mph in the water is super fast. Kinda the equiavalent of 150mph on land. Anything in the water capable of reaching 40mph will launch out of the water if directed in that direction. Great whites are said to be able to reach about 35mph, makos have been clocked at 46mph. These things chase down tunas....and tunas are fast!

True most sharks shouldn't be kept but I see people with bamboo shark and I don't see a prob considering most of us on here own a Arowana tht actually gets bigger than the Sharks like those
