I saw your rage on flowerhorncraze. I don't think you should be talking to him personally like that, he knows a ton about flowerhorns when it comes to breeding. He's been around flowerhorns since the birth of flowerhorns if I can recall it correctly. And what he post about if you breed both of those fish together is true, they will look more ZZ than Kamalau regardless if they have Kamalau blood in them. Keep in mind that the dominant trait of the fish is what showing as your eyes can see. And the mother is what will throw out the gene more than the father in most cases but not all.
Some of those guys you see on flowerhorncraze are from the birth age of flowerhorn where all the legendary flowerhorn and strain has not been mixed up with one another so much that you can't even tell which is which. And don't mention about flowerhorncraze being full of crap talk buy members who can't afford fish, they will post pictures of their blood super red texas with red pearls and a water head kok the size of a RD. Members on there are more serious about their flowerhorns than anywhere else, I've known a few guy on there that will pay 5 racks or more just for a fish. Their quality of fish are qualified for ILC or any overseas show competition. And these are the top best of the best fish only. I guess you haven't seen his top quality SML(Son Malau) and top MP quality flowerhorns yet. Not to side with anyone, but I've known him for quite some time now and just speaking the truth from what I know.
But as he said, if you want to bring out something exotic, best to breed your pearly ZZ malau with something exotic also. And exotic flowerhorns are high quality female Kamfa. Mick Kamfa for example, most of his "group buy" batches are a Kamalau dad and a top quality female Kamfa. They darn right throw out some exotic Kamfa or Kamfamalau you can say.
All in all, just imagine your frys looking like the mother with possibly 50/50 chance of the dad throwing in some pearls for the frys whether it will be more pearly than the dad or less pearls. No one knows, but for a fact you will create more ZZ looking flowerhorns only. If that is what you like then go for it and enjoy the hobby. :D

breed em' I am sure that you are not a "master" breeder and only want to keep a few fry. FHcraze is a great website to drool over, but some of us face the reality that our life goals are more important than spending "x amount of racks" on fish. The the price depreciation in the past few years has been driving investments on small hobby fish breeders to losing capital of the initial money spent. I have yet to meet one hobby breeder who has made more money on his setup than has loss. Face it, fish keeping will not pay the bills or get you laid, but it is a great hobby. Some people just need to be more humble about what they have so others can learn from them. FH keeping shouldn't be the "penis showing game" that a lot members on forums make it out to be.
