hi all. I am after some opinions on the above. I currently have a Mala in a separate tank who is awesome fun but not all that fish friendly and i would love to own another wolf species. However, i fully appreciate these chaps are not a brilliant community species. So with this in mind, is it worth attempting to add a wolf to the tank with the following;

2x Tat's 8"ish
1x Geo Altifron 5"
3x Geo Surinamensis (sp) 4/5"
2x geo Brasiliensis 4"
1x Cren. Venezuela 7" (probably going to sell as he will get too big too fast- had it 2 months and has grown 4" and is already out competing the tats for food)
1x Hujeta 5"

Everyone is very happy currently. Would either a gold wolf or ery be a safe addition or a potentially stupid idea?

Cheers.

Not an expert but had some experiences with a few wolves. I think you shouldn't do it with either. The gold will leave ur tank empty and the rainbow would leave some of your fish MIA permanently. However.....if you still want one then the rainbow would probably be the safe bet.....since they dont get too big. You got a nice stock there by the way!

a group of gold wolves.
non stop swimmers and not aggressive to other wolves or fish.
unless theyre small enough to eat of course...
many of those fish wont work with the pike simply cause itll outgrow and eat everything...

not true...
rainbows(reds) and golds are usually not aggressive fish.
rainbows are usually only aggressive to stuff small enough to eat and other wolves.
golds actually school with each other and leave big enough fish alone.

As said, i'm gonig to get rid of the pike. It was an impulse buy... so kinda the usual story but then again the lfs had no idea either so what can you do?!

I do like the idea of a pair of Gold wolfs so i guess thats the plan then. Cheers!

pair no go.
better to get a group.

i do have a small worry that 3 of them could easily mob a Geo but i guess only time will tell. I'm guessing they're also relatively slow growing compared to Geo's etc... so a group of small gold's shouldn't get too big too quickly and pick the happy little geo's off? That would be annoying.

they wont harm a geo they cant eat.
they are definitely fast fish when they want to be.
growth rate isnt too fast.
but faster than geos.
