XP4s vs XP3s vs Eheim Ecco 2236?

I am thinking about adding two XP4s or three XP3s or two Eheim Ecco 2236.

I need your advice on primarily the Rena XPs because I have absolutely no experience with them at all.

I only have had AC HOBs and an Eheim Ecco 2232.

I absolutely love my Eheim Ecco 2232 it is very well built and Unbelievably quiet. I actually have to check to see if it is on sometimes.

Right now I have an AC 110 and the Eheim Ecco 2232 on my 72x18x21.5

They are doing a great job but I really want to have more filtration because I am looking to add fish.

The stock in the tank is currently

1 Oscar 11"
1 GT 8"
2 Convicts 6"

So basically what do you all recommend and why?

I know there is also the Fluval FX5 but I think they might be way too loud and they are very hard to find locally here in El Paso TX.

Thanks in advance.

Just buy another Eheim. If you already have one then the cost of one more would be way less than 2 xp4s or 3 xp3s. Plus if you love your Eheim then stick to it?

I have no experience with Eheim but if your happy with the one you have might ass well get another. As far as the FX5's I have two on my 150 under the tank inside the stand about 2 feet from were I sat and I can't hear them run mine are really quiet. As far as buying them locally 9 at of 10 times ebay will be cheaper. The cheapest one were I live I can get for a 100 bucks cheaper on ebay after shipping costs

I like the Eheim Ecco series but I see many people here run XPs and I can get an XP4 for the price of an Eheim Ecco that is much smaller. That is why I am asking

Go XP3 over XP4... the extra money isn't worth it.

Actually, I hate my Renas so I wouldn't buy them at all.

Whoever told you an FX5 is loud is an idiot... They're silent.

Buy one online, why would you pay a ton more locally? They are on eBay for around $200 plus shipping...

Xp3 and Xp4 have the same flowrates with media do don't let the marketing fool ya. Both move about 190 gph. The xp4 gives you one more tray so you get 25% more room for media or sponges. Really not worth it IMO.

I happen to like all my xp's. Not the best filter out there but they work pretty well are pretty quiet and are very easy to do maintenance on once you've had them for awhile. All in all a decent filter for the money.

That being said, if you like your eheim you might as well get another. Don't get hung up on flowrates too much as media space and contact time are far more important.

The thing is here locally the XP3 is $190 and the XP4 is $204 does that make a difference? or is the XP3 still better?

i've also heard that the xp3 is better than the xp4, xp4 doesn't do anything over the xp3 for the extra cost.

Here locally XP3 is $190 and the XP4 is $204. Is it still not worth the extra bio media capacity?
